Job Title: Adult Services Associate
Direct Supervisor’s Title: Adult Services Team Leader
Morley Library Classification: LG1

Essential Core Functions:
• Assists all Library patrons in the use of the Library
• Provides Reference and Readers’ Advisory services to patrons
• Handles Collection Development for assigned sections of the library collection
• Develops, plans and implements instructional classes and informational/recreational programs for the public
• Helps and instructs patrons in the use of Library equipment, services, and technology
• Monitors patron behavior on Library property and enforces Library policies

Other Functions:
• Reads standard professional publications
• Attends meetings, continuing education seminars and community events as appropriate
• Performs other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills:
• Ability to learn Library methods, techniques, technology and databases
• Ability to effectively multitask while providing customer service
• Knowledge and ability to communicate Morley Library’s policies and procedures
• Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, the Microsoft Office Suite, various web browsers
• Knowledge and familiarity with digital media use and trends, especially digital Library services
• Fluency in Spanish preferred

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
• Ability to do accurate and detailed work
• Ability to provide excellent and effective customer service
• Good oral and written communication skills

Starting Hours: (hours and schedule are subject to change)
• Monday: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
• Wednesday: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
• Thursday: 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm
• Saturday (every other): 11:00 am – 3:00 pm
• Sundays: required as scheduled (October through April)

All Morley Library employees are expected to have and maintain good interpersonal and communication skills, maintain a tolerance and sensitivity to the needs of patrons and staff, maintain a positive and pleasant attitude, and be cooperative with coworkers. All employees shall also develop and maintain and awareness of the Library’s current operations, adhere to the Library’s policies and procedures, be flexible with regards to scheduling, and be in adequate physical condition to fulfill the requirements of their job.
